Welcome from CNN's Viewer Communications Management Team! This blog has been created especially FOR you and it will be all ABOUT you.
While this blog is new, our relationship with our viewers is not. Over the years you have helped us be the first to know about breaking news, you've brought to our attention local stories happening around you that warranted national attention, and you've made us aware of untold stories that needed to be told. You have helped make CNN what it is today, and we've created this blog as a way to acknowledge the value you bring to our business. It will be all the things that are about YOU. We want to focus on you, publish the news tips and story ideas you bring to us, and recognize you with our thanks for sharing them with us. We want to hear your voice, give you consideration, and share your thoughts with our other readers. Yes, we'll follow the same guidelines as all other blog sites for keeping the conversations relevant and tasteful, so keep that in mind when you have something to share. We want to be able to publish what you have to say so we're counting on you to take a look at the guidelines and keep them in mind when writing to us. Our goal is to help make sure your voice is heard and we can't wait to get started! So here's your invitation to TALK TO US! CNN Viewer Communications Management (VCM)
TeamCNN is our Twitter handle. You can tweet us your programming questions and we'll answer. It's also the title of our team (some of whom are pictured above). This team is the team who works to make sure our viewers are being heard, and make sure their voices are shared with the correct people here at CNN. We also accept questions via email through our feedback site, and you can text us news tips at "CNN, then a space, followed by your news tip to 772937" . Our CNN Facebook Fan page is a good place to share your comments on the top stories of the day, and there is also a link to submit news tips there. We try hard to respond to all questions ASAP. We are looking forward to hearing from you and answering your questions.
This week CNN launched a new app for the Android smartphone. Several viewers had smart questions for us, so here's a little more info that answers the ones we received the most. Yes, it is now available globally except in Japan. And yes, the 1.0.1 update has also been released. The update enhances user experience in a few areas, including live video and radio, as well as the aesthetics of the homepage and of articles. Additionally, this update eliminates the GPS feature for improved performance. Visit www.cnn.com/android to obtain more information and to download the app.
Carol from Spokane, Washington was one of thousands of viewers who was captivated by this CNN.com story, and shared thoughts with us. Because of the high viewer response we wanted to make sure you had a chance to know about it (and comment on it, if you'd like). Thank you for your feedback Carol!
"Just want to thank LZ Granderson for his excellent article on young girls dressing inappropriately. Now if there was just some way to shout that from every rooftop in America...maybe some of these parents might wake up. Excellent job!"
A viewer named Poya sent us this question: "I was watching a show today around 2pm PT, and saw '5 questions you should ask your mentor.' I was really interested, but don't remember the questions. Can you please send me a link to the show or some information on what it was talking about? Thanks.
Poya, here's the link to the full transcript, followed by the 5 questions:
1. What is the best decision you ever made?
2. What is the worst decision you've ever made?
3. What is the one thing you wish you had known then?
4. How do you handle setbacks or disappointments?
5. What is the wisest step I can take?
This question was submitted by multiple viewers; Yes, CNN.com will have live replays starting at noon ET, and will replay every three hours. If you're up when the real thing is happening, there will be a live Facebook chat leading up to the live event. It begins at 2:30 am ET. For more information on CNN's coverage of the Royal Wedding, please visit this article.
Our viewer, Melissa, asks, "Where is the 'Looking Out for You' section? I'm looking for consumer reports looking for mystery shoppers."
Hi Melissa; sorry you had trouble finding it, but here's the link to the segment from the April 15th transcripts, containing the information you are looking for along with all the requirements for being a Mystery Shopper. Good luck!
Jake from Missouri offered a unique response regarding our topic, "Is it okay for a married man to look at other women?" He says that his wife does not care; "It doesn't matter where you get hungry, as long as you eat at home".
Thanks, Jake, for weighing in on the topic!
Great question! You can visit our feedback page, click 'News Tips', and enter your story idea information and contact information under the appropriate category.
On Friday, April 15 CNN Newsroom did a segment on government spending, and alerted our viewers to a site where they can see how their tax dollars are being spent. By filling in the annual amount of tax withheld from your paycheck you can see the dollar amount of taxes (from your annual income) spent on each of the 13 listed categories, as well as the interest paid. The site is www.whitehouse.gov/taxreceipt
